"One of the best restaurants in the area is this extremely plain yet bustling little corner spot. It isn't much to look at; it doesn't even serve alcohol. But it excels at feeding people well, and that's nothing to take for granted. Tacos are a natural starting point. The fragrant soft corn tortillas are doubled up in authentic Mexican style to contain fillings like tangy marinated pork, spicy crumbled chorizo sausage and grilled beef. But the highlights at El Paso are the daily specials, all served with rice and refried beans. They might include puerco adobo, tender, vinegary pork served on the bone in a spicy tomato sauce, or cecina asada, a huge thin cut of beef that has been dried, salted and spiced, with sautéed chilies and cactus pads. On Saturdays and Sundays, El Paso serves pozole, the satisfying soup of pork and puffed corn.

Other recommended dishes: Pork ribs with mole poblano, flautas, meatballs in chipotle sauce, chilaquiles."

"Holy guacamole! This eatery serves the best guacamole in the city. Perfectly ripe avocados with mounds of nacho chips are the perfect intro for the chicken tacos. These two-dollar delicacies come in a chipotle tomato seasoning and, by far, are is the-most requested taco."
"Thrifty upper East Siders and workers from Mount Sinai Medical Center go to this Mexican cafe for bright fresh chicken burritos, enchiladas and bowls of pozole, a soup dense with pork and dried corn hominy."
"Great Guacamole! - This pair of hole in the wall Mexicans keeps it real with mouthwatering chow made fresh and served fast in barebones digs; restaurant-starved Carnegie Hall dwellers are glad that this find is so well priced - anyone would be."
